The advanced manufacturing and logistics industry is experiencing its most significant transition in recent times, so much so that this evolution has been coined the next Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0. Conexus is positioned to help usher in this new era and advance Indiana’s status as a national leader in the advanced manufacturing and logistics industry sector.

The Powering Industry 4.0 strategic plan drew on insights gathered through more than 50 one-on-one interviews and seven focus group sessions with more than 150 industry leaders from six Indiana regions.

Our findings resulted in four strategic initiatives that define Conexus Indiana’s work in support of continued industry growth:

Industry 4.0: Conexus will help companies explore, adopt and use technologies that meet their needs and provide ongoing support through a resource network for peer-to-peer assistance and support.

Networked Community: Conexus will inform and activate its work through a community of thought-leaders from industry, academia and the public sector. Together, these leaders will take collective action to advance the industry.

Talent Continuum: Conexus will focus on developing skill-based learning opportunities for high school, post-secondary and working adults. The seven talent programs that Conexus leads will help build the workforce of the future and create opportunities for economic mobility for all Hoosiers.

Image and Awareness: The industry is transforming – and has been for decades – yet perceptions of advanced manufacturing and logistics careers remain outdated and inaccurate. Now, more than ever, it’s vital we transform the image of the industry’s impact, importance and opportunity and cultivate positive awareness.
