iLab Indiana

The CEMETS iLab Indiana pathway combines classroom education with on-the-job training to prepare high school students for careers in AML and develops a new talent pipeline for employers seeking to address workforce needs.

Building Indiana’s New Career Pathway

Indiana’s advanced industries require innovative pathways for professional education and workforce training to meet growing demands. By 2031, 72% of U.S. jobs will need education beyond high school, yet currently, only 39% of Indiana adults aged 25 and older hold an associate degree or higher.

A Blueprint for Workforce Development

Launched in 2023, CEMETS iLab Indiana has brought together approximately 150 Indiana leaders from various sectors to translate the success of the Swiss vocational and professional education system into practical next steps.

The vision is simple but powerful: to ensure that every student and adult learner has access to high-quality education and training, empowering them to contribute to Indiana’s economic and civic vitality.

Creating an Employer-led Pathway

To achieve this vision, Indiana must establish a new, employer-led professional pathway to work alongside the traditional college route, offering high school students and adults career-ready skills. iLab Indiana has set an ambitious goal of reaching 50,000 students with youth apprenticeships by 2034, the foundational step of this professional pathway.
