AI and ML, advanced analytics, and other cloud technologies are helping manufacturers integrate supply chain data silos, gain new real-time insights for data-driven business decisions, and driving supply chain reinvention. To overcome new challenges and disruptions, supply chains need the capability to evolve with speed and agility, now more than ever. During the event, Mike Brown, Supply Chain Leader for Global and Strategic Accounts at Amazon Web Services, covered how companies can leverage AWS technology to launch business agility strategies and build resiliency into plant operations and supply chain ecosystems to prepare for any new challenges and disruption in the future.
Mike provided a detailed overview of ‘core manufacturing challenges’ as they relate to supply chains, including navigating disruption (supply chain visibility), digital investment (digital twin), supply chain resilience (trade exposure and disruption), sustainability, and workforce challenges and the labor skills gap. This overview was followed by a rundown of actionable steps and use cases for advanced manufacturing, such as automated planning, visibility and control towers, Industry 4.0 and smart factories, as well as a case study from the Volkswagen Group.
